All the major medical institutes in the Maharashtra state are affiliated and approved to CPS for the training of postgraduates. Today, CPS affiliates more than 125 medical institutions including private medical colleges, government medical colleges, medical colleges recognized by UGC. CPS has set the benchmark of examinations for the candidates to get expertise and excellence in their profession of medical specialty. CPS admission in Maharashtra follows certain criteria:

  • Candidates looking for CPS admission must have passed graduation degree from medical institutes recognized by the Medical Council of India. 
  • Candidates have done a one-year internship after graduation degree. The internship completion certificate approved by the university is mandatory.
  • Candidate must have appeared for NEET-PG.  

In Maharashtra 50% seats of CPS in government district hospitals are allotted to the candidates who are not “in service” and these candidates get admission based on merit. Remaining 50% seats are reserved for the “In-service quota”. Courses offered by the CPS: 

  • Degree or Fellowship course (Three years courses)

FCPS- Surgery, FCPS-Medicine, FCPS-Ophthalmology, FCPS-Midwifery & Gynecology, FCPS-Dermatology and Venereology, FCPS-Child Health, FCPS-Pathology, FCPS-Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, FCPS-Anesthesiology, FCPS-Orthopedics.

  • Diploma Courses (Two years courses) 

Diploma in - Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery, General Medicine, Child Health, General Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Tuberculosis diseases, Dermatology and Venereology, Ophthalmic medicine, Anesthesia, Pathology, Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, Diabetology, Psychological Medicine, etc. 

Candidates can pursue any of the above CPS courses after the completion of graduation. Candidates hold a CPS certificate can work anywhere in India. CPS qualification boosts the career of doctors and allows them to work in any private or government hospital. CPS courses are offered by government medical colleges in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and few private institutes of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
