MDS – Master of Dental Surgery
Master of Dental Surgery or MDS is a master’s degree course in Dentistry. Students who have graduated in Dental Science can do this course to get a deep understanding of dental issues.
The MDS course duration is three years. Those who have already completed post graduate diploma recognized by DCI can do this course for two years.

Eligibility Criteria for MDS Admission
The eligibility criteria for admission to the MDS course are as follows:
- You must have BDS degree from a dental college/institute recognized by Dental Council India
- You should have completed their Internship for BDS before taking admission in MDS course
- Some dental colleges mention minimum marks in the qualifying degree examination for admissions to the MDS course such as 55% marks in aggregate of all subjects in the BDS course
- You must have obtained merit ranks in the NEET-MDS Entrance Exam. NEET-MDS is an all-India entrance exam conducted for MDS course admission across the country by the National Board of Examinations.
NEET-MDS
NEET MDS or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Masters of Dental Surgery is conducted every year in a computer-based online mode for admission in around 6200 MDS seats under 50% All India Quota and 50% State Quota.
NEED MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination and there is no other exam, either at the state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to MDS courses in India.
The qualifying NEET MDS Cut off score will be released along with the results. If your score will be more than NEET MDS Cut off, you will be included in the merit list and hence eligible to participate in NEET MDS counselling for admission.

MDS Admission Counselling & Seat Allotment
MDS Admission Counselling will start a month after the declaration of the NEET-MDS results. The counselling will be conducted online and you will be asked to visit the allotted dental college/institution for document verification.
