The Board of Governors of Medical Council of India have recognised 8 two-year Diploma Course Post- MBBS course. These courses will be offered by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). Introduction of the new Diploma Courses Post MBBS has been considered a great success by the authorities as it will increase the specialist seats in the PG medical colleges.
To address the scarcity of specialist doctors in district hospitals, the Centre has revived PG Diploma that one can pursue by clearing the NEET-PG exam after completing MBBS. Hospitals with a minimum of 100 operational beds are eligible to seek accreditation with the National Board of Examinations (NBE) for the diploma courses.
With the grant of recognition, the National Board of Examinations will now be providing 2-year post MBBS Diploma Courses said the official notification.

The introduction of the new PG medical courses by the Medical Council of India has received mixed reactions from the medical aspirants. Some students are confused about its recognition/ status and whether the recognition will be in effect from the current academic session or next. Whereas others consider it is great progress in the field of medical studies in India.
