The Symbiosis Medical College for Women is the brainchild of Prof. Dr. S.B.Mujumdar, the Founder and Chancellor of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University). After seeing the biographic movie about India’s first lady doctor, Ms. Anandibai Joshi, the idea of creating a medical college exclusively for women was born. With an objective of women empowerment and contributing to nation building by increasing the number of female doctors, Symbiosis has established this exclusive Medical college for Women under the Faculty of Health Sciences.
The medical college is located in the scenic campus of the Symbiosis International (Deemed University) at Lavale, Pune. The annual intake will be 150 students. The medical college and its attached Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre have state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities. Sister Institutes in the Lavale campus like the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune, Symbiosis Institute of Digital and Telecom Management, Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication, Symbiosis School of Biological Sciences, Symbiosis School of Photography, Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts, Symbiosis School of Sports Sciences, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Symbiosis School of Banking and Finance & research centers like Symbiosis Centre for Waste Resource Management, Symbiosis Centre for Stem Cell Research, Symbiosis Centre for Behavioural Studies, Symbiosis Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Symbiosis Centre for Medical Image Analysis will assist in the strong focus on academics and research.

Fees are to be paid by 2 Demand Drafts drawn from Scheduled Commercial Bank as under:

Academic Fees and Institute Deposit of $41,800 in the name of “Symbiosis Medical College for Women”, payable at Pune.

Administrative Fees, Hostel and Mess Fees & Hostel Deposit of $3,000 in the name of “Symbiosis Medical College for Women”, payable at Pune.
#One time fees at the time of admission to M.B.B.S. Programme. Deposit amount will be refunded without interest after completion of M.B.B.S. Programme and on clearing ‘No Dues’ from all concerned.
Note:
- Academic, Hostel and Mess Fees of subsequent years shall increase by10%.
- The repeater/ backlog (academic and examination including supplementary examination) fees shall be prescribed and charged separately.
- Government taxes would be additional as and when applicable.
- Medical Students are expected to compulsorily wear the prescribed uniform/sports dress on select days of the week/ceremonial occasions and visits to outside colleges. The cost of the uniforms/sports will be charged separately and borne by the students.
ii. Payment of Fees for General and NRI Category

The Academic, Hostel and Mess Fees of the academic year 2020-2021 (M.B.B.S. Phase-I) should be paid through Demand Draft drawn from Commercial Bank in favour of ‘Symbiosis Medical College for Women’ payable at Pune.

Academic, Hostel and Mess Fees of the subsequent years should be paid through Online NEFT/ RTGS/ SWIFT. The process for payment of fees shall be communicated prior to the commencement of the subsequent Years.

The candidate has to pay the entire annual fee irrespective of the deposit made by candidate to MCC at the time of registration. The amount deposited with DGHS-MCC at the time of registration will be refunded directly by the MCC authority to respective candidates.

Vacant NRI seat(s) during stray vacancy institutional round of counselling shall be offered to General category candidates in accordance to merit & the fees structure will be equivalent to NRI quota fees to be paid in INR.

Symbiosis Medical College for Women/ SIU accepts payment only towards admission fee, academic fees and other fees as notified.

Symbiosis Medical College for Women/ SIU does not charge any Capitation Fee or Donation in whatever nomenclature or form.

The candidate shall pay subsequent years academic, hostel, mess and other fees, as prescribed by the Symbiosis Medical College for Women/ SIU within the due date as notified from time to time. If the fees are paid after last date, the candidate will have to pay late fees as per the rules notified by the University.

Repeater/ Backlog Fees (academic as well as examination) are to be paid when a student reappears for university examination including supplementary either due to failure or detention during any particular year of M.B.B.S. Programme. Such a candidate has to pay Repeater Fees on pro-rata basis of Backlog Course(s) as applicable to the respective Year and Batch.

iii. Hostel:
Being a fully Residential Medical College, all the candidates admitted to Symbiosis Medical College for Women will compulsorily have to stay in hostel within the college campus.

The students will be provided with spacious rooms accommodating 3 students in each room. The rooms have attached toilet and WC facilities with independent beds, table chairs, book racks, cupboards, etc.

No electrical induction plates, air-conditioners and refrigerators are provided in the students' rooms. However, Common Rooms at alternate floors are provided with one each of the fridge, oven, induction plate, electric kettle, TV, electric Iron, Ironing table, RO and water cooler. 2. Admission under Dr Anandi Gopal Scholarship Scheme:
Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship will be awarded to 5 girl students who top the NEET exam merit list and are allotted and admitted to Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) Programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women each year.
- The scholarship will be awarded after the completion of admission process. Academic fees paid during the admission process will be refunded to students selected for the scholarship after completion of scholarship formalities.
- The Entire Academic Fees for such awardees for all the years of M.B.B.S. programme will be waived off and their fees will be covered under Terms and Condition of the Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship Scheme.
- In case an awardee fails in a university examination, the applicable examination fees/ academic fees for the subsequent examination/s will have to be paid by the student for that particular university examination alone. The scholarship will resume after the candidate successfully passes the concerned university examination.
- The Hostel, Mess and other Fees as notified as applicable will not be covered under the scheme and awardees will have to bear these costs on their own.
- All awardees will compulsorily have to serve SUHRC as Junior Resident for 1 year after completion of MBBS programme and after completion of Compulsory rotatory residential internship(CRRI). The tenure of CRRI period will not be counted as one year service. The awardees of the scholarship will work as a Junior Resident at any Primary Health centre, Urban Health Centre, Rural Health centre or any other such centre as approved by SUHRC. During their service as Tutor/ Junior Resident/ Medical Officer, they will be paid the emoluments as may be applicable at that point of time.
- The awardees and parents will have to execute a One Year Compulsory Service Bond to the effect that they will abide by the Terms and Conditions of the scheme.
- That in the event of breaking of the Service Bond either while undergoing the M.B.B.S. programme or after completion of the Programme, the candidate will have to pay a sum of equivalent amount of Academic Fees for the of the programme of all Years as liquidated damages.
- That if an awardee wishes to undertake a post-graduate course immediately after completion of her internship at SMCW/ other medical college and wishes to serve the one-year service after completion of post-graduation, the following regulations will apply.
- The awardee will first make an application and obtain a written sanction from SMCW for undertaking Post-graduation.
- The awardee will deposit the entire academic fees to the university for the entire course as applicable at the time of making the requisition for grant of permission to undertake post-graduation course.
- After completion of the post-graduation course at SMCW/other medical college, the awardee will join SUHRC and serve in any centre as deemed suitable by SUHRC for a period of One Year in the capacity of a Senior Resident. During this service period, the awardee will be paid remuneration for work as a Senior Resident as applicable at that time.
- The academic fees deposited by her will refunded without interest after the awardee successfully completes the one-year service with SUHRC as Senior Resident.
- In case an awardee does not join SUHRC after completion of post-graduation and render the required one-year service, the entire deposit amount/ security instrument shall redeemed in favour of SMCW/ SIU at its discretion
